In the yogic tradition, Rudraksha are considered as the “Tears of Shiva”. It is not just an accessory or a piece of jewellery but it possess sacred energy which is an instrumental for inner transformation. So to maintain that energy, the certain process and guidelines need to be followed to take care of it.
Rudraksha beads are very strong and if a proper care and cleaning is done and if protected from getting physically damaged, these beads can be passed on from one generation to another.
A person can wear more then one Rudraksha bead of the same mukhi. Alternately he can also wear a mala/ bracelet having a combination of various mukhi Rudraksha. It is important to wear beads as per Rudraksha Ratna Science Therapy to get maximum benefits from them.
Rudraksha beads are a product of nature. Hence they vary in their size and colors even if they are identical in Mukhas (facets) . However this variation of size and color does not increase/ decrease the effectiveness of this divine bead.
A well maintained Rudraksha gives desired results. Follow these steps to maintain the beads and their configurations in fine and sprightly conditions.
- Wear Rudraksha only after consecration / Activation / Abhimantrana.
- Whenever you take off Rudraksha from your body, store them in the place of worship in your house for continual energization. The place should be dry and airy to avoid infections.
- Wash the beads with Gangajal / flowing clean water regularly, at least once in a month.
- Using oils Is an optional. However, if wish to use, the best option is Almond oil. It is best because of two reason; (i) it leaves no odour. And (ii) it never changes the colour of beads.
- Do not use damaged and infected beads.
- Touch the Rudraksha to Jyotirlinga / Shivlinga whenever visit Shiva Temple.
To maintain the sanctity, though not mandatory but advisabale to take off Rudraksha in following conditions
- Whenever you go to bed
- Whenever you are visiting funeral ground
- Whenever consuming non-vegetarian food, alcohol etc.
- Female user during menstrual period.
